Rebecca Marshall-Howarth has led Marketing Communications efforts at Raytheon, Data General, EMC, Invensys, and the MIT Energy Initiative. During her successful career, she focused on a variety of vertical markets, including high-tech, manufacturing, process control, energy, healthcare, banking, and insurance.
Most recently, to further that passion for communications, she has refocused her energy and efforts by starting The Last Word, a full-service marketing communications company that helps both small and large businesses effectively communicate their value to their prospects and customers.
A writer, editor, proofreader, and project manager, Content Specialist, Rebecca, creates or edits content, working with an extensive network of professionals to design and print or post marketing material. This network includes graphic designers, web developers, Search Engine Optimization specialists, photographers, social media specialists, printers, and promotional products vendors.
Rebecca will create your content or edit your existing content to assure that it is grammatically correct. But it isn’t just about grammar and punctuation. She will work with you to get your message across to your potential clients. She will tell your story and will add key words that will help your business be seen on the first page of a Google search for your sales area. And you might wonder about the types of deliverables. She creates content for blogs, websites, brochures, presentations, white papers, case studies
For small businesses, The Last Word works as an “as needed” marketing communications department. For larger businesses, The Last Word augments existing staffs during overload times, providing that oh so important “extra set of eyes.” For all customers, Rebecca brings a fresh perspective on a company’s communications efforts and a wealth of experience gleaned from her successful 30-year career in high tech and academia.
On a volunteer basis, Rebecca manages the social media marketing campaign for the Boston Colon Cancer Coalition 5K, which occurs in the Fall of each year. This past year, since she is focusing on The Last Word full time and no longer takes the train into Cambridge every day, Rebecca was able to fulfill a long-time desire — volunteering for Christmas Is for Kids.
